About Me

Nick Leyland - a landscape photographer and filmmaker.

Hi, My Name is Nick, and I’m a landscape photographer and filmmaker from Connecticut.

I bought my first camera in 2016, and since then, it’s been a wild ride. I’ve been to 36 states, spent months living out of my car, made two full-length films, and have taken thousands of photos along the way. And the journey is far from over.

My love for the outdoors and photography was cultivated during many years of skiing in my childhood. Skiing taught me valuable lessons in perseverance and courage as I tackled challenging runs and embraced the unpredictable conditions of mountain weather—a mindset that guides how I tackle photography and filmmaking today.

I fully believe that to take the best landscape photos, you have to be immersed in and experience nature in all of its forms. This means enduring even the most intense weather conditions in search of the perfect photo. Rain, shine, blizzard, or even hurricane, you’ll find me out taking photos. Nature is dynamic and ever-changing, and being present for all conditions can truly afford you the experience (or photo) of a lifetime. While I’ve planned many photography trips, some of the best photos I’ve ever taken came from a time where I did not have a plan, and was just simply present in nature.

When I’m not out in search of incredible landscapes, you can find me behind the computer working on one of a handful of programming projects, making all sorts of trinkets and things with my 3D printer, or finding new places to fish and explore on my kayak.

Stay tuned for the adventure!
